Announcement cards – The gallery makes 750 cards and will give us 250 for distribution.
No. of paintings – At least one per member. You may submit 2 paintings. The selection of the 2nd painting will be based on space available and balancing the show’s theme of “Tradition and Experimentation. “

Painting criteria – All work must be original. As we are asking for experimental as well as traditional the work should show the chi of the brush and ink that defines sumi-e.
Size - In general there is no restriction as to size the exhibit space is large and can hang on two levels [high and lower]. This means that we do have room for long pictures or scrolls. The caveat is that if members submit a great many large paintings then we might be unable to hang fewer paintings and members 2nd offerings might not be hung. If you have specific questions, contact Trish, as she knows the space.

Frames and Mats – or not – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY – Creativity is ambigious!

Frames must be a neutral, dark color – black, dark brown, pewter, gray. If the work does not have a standard frame the presentation should be suitable for a gallery and of a character that blends with the traditional frames. In trying to explain this I am thinking of Nola’s acrylic “mountings.” These “blocks” of acrylics blend in tone and do not scream for notice based on their edges. The concern is that the show have a uniform “tone.” Pardon the ambiguity and if you have any questions PLEASE check with the show chairs as decisions at hanging will be final. Mats IF USED are to be neutral or off-white.

Work must be Ready to hang with a wire on the back about a1/4 of the way from top.

Deadlines:

2/3 – February meeting, bring pictures if you want transportation for your work.
2/23 – have work at gallery for hanging at 9 a.m.
